Civil Immigration Reform and the Coming Civil War

Civil Immigration Reform and the Coming Civil War...

George W. Bush has finally revealed himself to be what he truly is...the Number One Enemy of the Citizens of the United States. We came to this conclusion after reading: "Bush hails deal on immigration reform". In pursuing and finalizing this deal on so-called "immigration reform" he has finally turned his back a full 180° to the American people.

Now, we're not saying that we nor anyone should call for open Civil War, but this is certainly a foreshadow of such a war. And, we're not talking about the Civil War in Iraq nor the American Civil War. What we are talking about is the New Immigration Civil Reform Civil War. More legal American citizens can count on being turned out of American jobs and employment which should be rightfully theirs. Instead, an employer will soon be able to legally hire temporary visitor alien workers in their place.

Well, we ask you, where is that poor American citizen going to turn for work and revenue to support himself/herself and his/her family when they are competing with temporary foreign workers? How are they to feed and shelter themselves when employment has been denied them and favoritism given to the alien visitor worker and workforce? What is going to happen to the American workforce?

Are they and their families just expected to lay down and starve and thirst to death just because it is convenient to George Bush and the turncoat Republican party? We don't think so nor do we think they should.

What we think - what we are afraid of - is that enough American citizens will be forced out of their right to employment in this country that they will have no choice. They will have no choice but to unite and secede from this once great nation. And, upon seceding, the New Civil War may appear just on the horizon. We're not saying that this will happen, nor that it should happen. George Bush and his turncoats have just made it more likely by sticking it one last time to the American worker and the American family. If such a Civil War does happen, history will blame it on George W. Bush and his Republican Party turncoats.

The Vacuous Moment of Truth

The Vacuous Moment of Truth/The Moment of Vacuous Truth

We originally wanted to say something else in this posting. We originally wanted to give our attribute matrix analysis for the
Iraq War situation like we did in our previous posting: The Scorecard. Perhaps we will get back to that. That was until we ran into another veteran (Vietnam War era) selling Remembrance Day poppies for hospitalized war veterans. We stopped to donate coins (again) for yet another poppy.

We asked this gentleman our standard question – “
Iraq – in or out”? The gentleman veteran paused for a moment to consider our question. He said it was another Viet Nam. He said this has been going on for forty years over there (Iraq, the Middle East, etc…). He said it was a waste of time. He then gave us a very tired look and fell silent. We thanked him and continued on our business. He wished us a good day.

Later on, that same evening, we reflected on our thoughts for this posting and weighed the man’s comments. It seemed to us that his comments came more to the point than any detailed analysis we might supply here.

That was our Satori. We realized then that the
Iraq War was vacuous (e.g.: devoid of substance or meaning; inane or lacking serious purpose…). That our administration’s leadership in this odious (arousing or meriting strong dislike, aversion, or intense displeasure) was fatuous (vacuously, smugly, and unconsciously foolish or delusive; unreal). Like the gentleman veteran had said – it is a waste of time. “Big time” – (to paraphrase Dick Cheney from an earlier comment). This was, for us, the realization of our administration’s Vacuous Moment of Truth.

Our leadership continues to delude themselves and our media with an unreal campaign for continuing this hateful war effort. A war effort lacking any real substance or meaning. A war effort that continues to waste time – and precious resources (look at gas prices, etc.) – and, most all, the life blood of our youth.

And, like the veteran said, its not going to change anything of substance in Iraq. Conditions are growing worse for our troops, Iraq and Iraqis. Iraqis are fleeing to
Syria – with little or no possessions or resources. And, because they aren’t Syrian citizens, they are also denied employment. Their lives, their situation is truly desperate. And still they have fled Iraq. If this war is so important, why are these refugees choosing total desperation instead of remaining in their homeland? This is our administration’s Vacuous Moment of Truth.

The party is over. With their popularity polls in the pits, the Republican Party will be calling itself the Refugee Party come next year
.

Bush To Congress: We Need a New Military Funding Bill

He said as he prepared to cycle away the tension...

Does it demonstrate an inappropriate lack of concern on behalf of the administration? That is to say, is the administration's concern for the troops genuine or just a publicity position? See: Bush seeks prompt new war spending bill .

By the way, it's Poppy Day here in our part of the world. We did stop to purchase one and make a donation to the Veteran who was handing them out today. We happened to ask the Veteran which war he was in - it was the Korean War. One of our uncle's fought in Korea, we told him (the truth). We asked him what he thought of Iraq - in or out? Out, was his reply. He said it was heartbreaking to see so many of our troops' lives lost over there. Not only that, he commented on how many of them are coming home without a hand, an arm, a leg ... and so on. And, some of them were in the National Guard and are coming home without the job they once had and, in the other case, they are coming home without the ability to take on their old job due to severely disfiguring and disabling injuries. Many of these injuries inflicted on our troops are permanent - they're not going to go away. They will have to live with them the rest of their lives. Some of the less fortunate will not be coming home at all. Some military families will not be getting back their sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, and so on. And the war goes on and so on. It is heartbreaking.

The "Dead Zone" and the "Life Expectancy Zone".

On the Real-Life Dead Zones...

currently forming in our oceans and their end-result: the destruction of all sea life in these zones. We were recently awe-struck by a presentation given by Professor (Zoology, Oregon State University) Jane Lubchenco (sp?) regarding the formation of an immense dead zone in the sea along the coast of Oregon. Dr. Lubchenco presented underwater photographs of the underwater carnage (after) photos and of the once-active life zone (before) that this area once was. The presentation was on C-Span (Energy Choices and Global Warming).

The photographs themselves were more terrifying than the data presented. What's happened here on the coast of Oregon, is that the sea life is being destroyed by hypoxia. That is, the disappearance of life-sustaining oxygen from these (and other waters around the world). Dr. Lubchenco said the only evidence to currently connect to the disappearance of the sea life must be due to global warming. The two phenomena appear to related by their proximity. More measurement and data might be needed to more firmly connect the two, but perhaps we are running out of time...
The sea floor in the current photos was littered with dead fish and dead Dungeness crabs. It was an awesome sight. We wonder how much more sea floor will be covered with dead sea life. Will this continue - will it halt? What do we do in the meantime?
No objections to the relationship between hypoxia, dead zones and global warming were presented by the audience nor the rest of the panel. Some of the panel seemed assured that the facts and connections were right. One of the panelists (we can't identify which) stated that the US currently consumes 6 million more barrels of petroleum per day than we can currently produce. The message is clear: Global Warming or not, our energy choices will change. The choice is no longer our own.
After this frightening presentation (before? see the C-Span schedule) we then saw some of the program "Science, Health, and an Aging Society". One of the main presentation points presented by the panel that impressed us was that life expectancy is increasing. At least one of our editors is not so sure. The editor has at least two doubts on life expectancy increasing - but he feels this trend will turn downward. With the current state of our oceans, running out of life-giving resources like fish and crab, how are we supposed to sustain our population(s)? Don't the seas provide half the food and revenues needed by most of the human population? If the oceans do die (as previously predicted, in the next 50 years) how will humanity sustain itself without these vital resources and revenues?
The other complaint this editor has is that he has already seen the downward trend firsthand. He is currently living well below the poverty level. He is currently without adequate nutrition and expects to experience malnutrition in the very near term. He has previously applied for assistance but has only been offered some $ 10 per month in food stamps (which is typical, in Michigan) and no health care assistance. Disgusted with this, he has given up his re-application for these benefits in protest. But, forgive us, we have digressed...
Its the case of diminishing resources. Life expectancy trends cannot continue upward if global warming and resource destruction (like sea life, food, etc...) continues to be destroyed. As a result of their close proximity, he expects the "Dead Zone" to coincide with the "Life Expectancy Zone" - with disastrous consequences.
