Bush To Congress: We Need a New Military Funding Bill

He said as he prepared to cycle away the tension...

Does it demonstrate an inappropriate lack of concern on behalf of the administration? That is to say, is the administration's concern for the troops genuine or just a publicity position? See: Bush seeks prompt new war spending bill .

By the way, it's Poppy Day here in our part of the world. We did stop to purchase one and make a donation to the Veteran who was handing them out today. We happened to ask the Veteran which war he was in - it was the Korean War. One of our uncle's fought in Korea, we told him (the truth). We asked him what he thought of Iraq - in or out? Out, was his reply. He said it was heartbreaking to see so many of our troops' lives lost over there. Not only that, he commented on how many of them are coming home without a hand, an arm, a leg ... and so on. And, some of them were in the National Guard and are coming home without the job they once had and, in the other case, they are coming home without the ability to take on their old job due to severely disfiguring and disabling injuries. Many of these injuries inflicted on our troops are permanent - they're not going to go away. They will have to live with them the rest of their lives. Some of the less fortunate will not be coming home at all. Some military families will not be getting back their sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, and so on. And the war goes on and so on. It is heartbreaking.
