Abraham Lincoln Finds in The News and Negative Water News and The Deluge Myth Redux and More for Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Today we have links to several topics, which cause us some questions. Like, if there were no earmarks in the stimulus, would the Republicans have anything to talk about? If there were no global recession, would we not have earmarks, anyway? And would we have had earmarks with a Republican administration? And if not, then why do we have a global recession now - should not the previous administration done something (more?) to stabilize a potentially shaky economy - for example; the housing market collapse started early on in 2008 - perhaps earlier? Do the Republicans appear to be disingenuous on these topics? Are they even aware of the kind of appearance (or facade) they are presenting to the public - their audience? Is that part of the Republican Problem - not being aware of the perception of their audience? Seems like a big problem to us. Oh, and what about the nagging environmental problems like acid seas possibly causing (mass) extinctions and rapidly rising sea levels wiping out the coastlines, islands and other geographic regions of the world? The world is drowning and these fools rage on about earmarks as if they were the end of the world. Without solid land to stand on (literally and figuratively) where will these Republicans expect to find themselves a perch on which to land? As far as these concerns go, we think the Republican party might as well be based on Mars. At least, they might be able to find dry land and fresh water there. After all, ignorance is bliss. And, most of them believe in that covenant with God after The Deluge redux. Unlike Rush Limbaugh, we hope they are right.
