WHO Loses H1N1 Count & More for Friday, July 17, 2009

Wow! We did not really think that those in the Bush administration would have really planned a covert operation to eliminate members of Al Qaeda. Had they succeeded, would they really have used 'right wing death squads' (similar to those in South America some years ago...and/or was it Central America?) to liquidate the likes of Osama? The use of the 'death squad' term would seem accurate, as any such liquidations would have been - by definition - extrajudicial. Would they have used snipers/sharpshooters to take out individual members and other terrorists? And when exactly did this plan (plot?) start to hatch? What if they had succeeded? Would a full-out jihad be in full-swing against the US at this time? Apart from the 'what if' speculations, we find this case to be intriguing. One more thing (or two), is 'the operation' truly deactivated (as says Mr. Panetta), or do we have the possibility of some rogue active elements still 'out there' pursuing Mr. bin Laden and his compatriates? And, were Chinese nationals really given access to interrogate Gitmo detainees?

Death Sentence for Pregnant Woman and More for Monday, May 4, 2009

Well, its amazing, we think. Our senior editor seems to be recovering and is almost normal. Except for a couple of abcesses in his feet. We hope he gets those treated before septicemia or gangrene sets in... We keep telling him to get medical treatment, but he has been too ill to apply for Medicaid. He says he'll just keep putting bacitracin on it...he's incredibly stubborn that way. Well, the swelling has gone down...in his right foot... He limped to our terminal today...
Of course, he has run out of food stamps again...and still cannot find suitable nor gainful employment. But, he says, look at the European Recession. Oh yeah, and the WHO has/is raising their Pandemic Alert Level to a "6". And, lets not forget about this ...

EU Urges Calm, Mexico Shuts Down and More for Thursday, April 30, 2009

Please Note: We are taking the advice of Dr. Chan of the WHO under advisement. But we are also taking the advice of the EU not to panic. (Does anybody listen to Joe Biden anyway? Gee whiz...)

And Chrysler announces bankruptcy. We have been observing that train wreck for almost 30 years! It has been a strange and terrible spectacle (to quote the late Hunter S. Thompson...) watching them roll and tumble - for decades. Most train wrecks and car wrecks grind to a halt in a relatively short time. But management and labor have done quite a job in keeping it going. But, in our humble opinion, Mitsubishi (of course, the Wikipedia reports there was some controversy over possible slave labor, gee whiz...) should have taken them over, not Fiat.
