NineEleven Denial or 911 Denial

NineEleven Denial or 911 Denial: Is a topic we'd much rather not talk about, but its out there. And its being pandered and bandied about by none other than the likes of...Rudy Giuliani? Its making us sick. "America's Mayor" (remember all the video of him escorting people to safety during the 911 attacks?...) has downgraded himself into a GOP buffoon denying any terror took place under the Bush Administration's watch. Give us a break while we lean over and retch our liberal guts out (figuratively, of course).

Lawrence O'Donnell (filling in for Keith Olbermann on Countdown, we presume Keith's father is still ailing, but we don't know...we hope its something else...) ripped Big Rudy a new one by articulating one-by-one the terror acts that occurred on US soil under the Bushies' watch. We think Lawrence did a fine job of it. We were wondering if the IED attacks on our troops overseas should be included. (From our point of view, the Bushies' are directly responsible for any/all IED casualties...) Not sure if they missed it or not, but lets not forget the Virginia Tech massacre, either. Was the VTM a terrorist event? Oh, we think so - just ask the survivors if they felt terrorized or not. We're sure most of the victims felt terror. Dumb question. Dumb.

Not to belabor the point...just how dumb is the GOP? Or, more pointedly, how dumb are we? Is our collective memory so short, our collective consciousness so stunted that we really have forgotten all of the atrocities that have gone before the Detroit Terror Attack of Christmas 2009? In essence, 911 Denial is really an attack on the intelligence of the American people. Worse, its also a back-handed slap-in-the-face to any and all of the survivors of these terrorist events. In the longer, larger view, its really a back-handed slap to all atrocity survivors in the temporal community.

We're not just talking Holocaust Denial, but forgetting about Andersonville (not the town, the Civil War POW camp in that locale), Darfur and many, many others. Some of which, shamefully, have been forgotten. Of course, Holocaust Denial is illegal in many European countries. And it should be illegal in the good ol' USA, too. As a matter of fact, such denials as 911 Denial should be illegal in the good ol' USA, too. Which should tell you just how heinous we think it is to promote, mention 911 Denial in the name of GOP politics. It is despicable.

Which leads to speculation - what if the Bushies had made 911 Denial illegal? They probably did not even think of making it into law. (911 Denial does not appear in the Wikipedia, by the way...). Now if it ever does pass into law, would they (the GOP, and their ilk...) ignore the law and continue campaigning under this ridiculous and offensive banner? We're guessing...yes. Is it more disturbing that we think they would or that they would?

Which is a banner they've yet to flout. We have to try to see all points of view. So, we're guessing that Big Rudy and some of the others are implying that there was no terrorist event during the Bushie era....because no law was passed to make the denial illegal. From that point of view, they are right. We say, lets prove them wrong, and make 911 Denial illegal. Of course, the Obama administration does have its hands full. And most Americans are more concerned about putting some damn food on the table and getting the rent paid. And, some of us do have short memories. Because, we've got to get that damn food on the table and more...

Which is why it is the media's job to play "Gotcha" and trip up the buffoons who espouse lip-farts like 911 Denial. Come on George! What's with you man! But, its wrong to lay the blame solely on George. He's only human. He should have caught it, he booted it, and he apologized. Man up. And don't play any favorites. If you have to play the "Gotcha" game, give it to everybody. Brother Michael, Sister Sarah, oh, and Harry just got tripped up too! The media is very good at the game when it concerns a sex scandal and our politicians...or a pro athlete...or a pro golfer... You see, its hard to focus on some things other than a good old sex scandal. But it sells. 911 Denial didn't have to sell itself...until now.

Aside from all this: We like the way Lawrence handled the show on Friday night (1/8/09). We just wish he would pick up the "Worst Person In The World" Torch. Then we would love him. Whoever replaces Keith (and he won't be on the show forever...) we hope they pick up that WPW Torch.

Throw Your Shoes in the Air?

What is the world to make of the shoe-throwing incident caused by the Iraqi TV (Al-Baghdadiya) reporter Muntadar al-Zeidi? Are those dissatisfied and disenfranchised by the Bush-Cheney administration really supposed to join this gentleman in protest to the seemingly reckless handling of world and US affairs? Are we all supposed to throw our shoes in the air?
Please note: we cannot in any way suggest the launching of your shoes nor any projectile at any government official, leader and/other personage lest we be charged and arrested with incitement of such an act. The most we can suggest, possibly, is by protesting by throwing your shoes in the air at no particular object nor person at this nor any other time. Will we witness shoe-throwing rallies around the world?
We found it vaguely amusing - and we are sure some of you did to - to see the leader of the free world forced into the indignity of dodging a pair of rogue shoes hurled by an angry TV reporter - no less an Iraqi citizen. Also, it is viewed as a sign of great disrepect in his culture and part of the world to toss one's footwear at the object of one's derision. The man was supposedly protesting the loss of innocent lives in the Iraq War. One could hardly blame him.
Even greater the indignity as the administration must now be awaking to the realization that Mr. al-Zeidi may find himself being defended by Saddam Hussain's attorney - Khalil al-Dulaimi. What an irony is that? Well, Mr. al-Dulaimi could not save Saddam, perhaps he can save Mr. al-Zeidi. Also, the indignity suffered by the administration at the general and popular feeling of outrage experienced not just by Mr. al-Zeidi, but the whole of the Islamic world. See reference: Iraq rally for Bush shoe attacker. Seems like "Throw Your Footwear in the Air!" may become the global rallying call for the end of the Bush Administration and their highly unpopular war in Iraq.
Also, what kind of solipsist nimbus must the outgoing administration be living under? Surely, they could have foreseen some sort of attack on their representative - in the guise of Mr. Bush himself. How could they have not foreseen this even the most minor of violent outrages perpetrated on their person? It is laughable to surely think otherwise. Mr. Bush is indeed fortunate to have suffered only this most minor of attacks. We are indeed relieved that the outrage has only come to this.

Give this Lady a Saliva Test?

Pert, perky, cute and possibly quite crazy. Did this lady just accuse Barack Obama of consorting with terrorists - like the Weathermen? Just because he sat on the same charity board as Bill Ayers? (See the links *below). Barack was wearing diapers at the same time the Weathermen were bombing things and killing and maiming people - including one police officer. If the claim is not ridiculous nor crazy - it is just plain dangerous. Give this woman a saliva test, for C****'s sake. Get off the stage miss, the men in white suits with nets are coming now...what's that you say? They're not coming.
Anything goes in politics in the post-financial apocalypse, we guess. It is not satisfactory just to ask this lady to resign from the Republican campaign. It is time for the entire McCain camp to fold up its tents and banners. This party should be declared over - over the top. It's gone too far this time. Making trumped-up charges of consorting with terrorists - radicals, actually is a sign of desperation turned crazy turned dangerous. Every American citizen, nay everybody in the world, should stand up and object to these insane guilt-by-association accusations.
Is this the McCain swipe at terrorism? We haven't heard them complain about the Bush administration failure - nor the failure of Senator McCain - to capture and bring to justice the real terrorists - including Osama bin Laden. Why aren't they playing that terror-card? Because they haven't got the stones to stand up and decry the pitiful and ineffective war on terror. Nor have they managed to bring about the perpetrators of the anthrax scare. No, but they did manage to scare Dr. Bruce Ivins into suicide and the potentially explosive and expensive lawsuit settlements of Steven Hatfill. No, they have managed to ruin a couple of very likely innocent Americans.
In a single statement, this good lady and these bad power-hungry, half-mad Republicans have managed to insult the intelligence of every living and dead American. Also, lest we forget, they have failed to bring to justice those responsible for planning and masterminding the terrorist 9/11 attacks. Lest we forget, they should not be throwing rocks at those they complain are associated with American radicals, when they have failed to do anything for justice for the thousands left dead after the 9/11 attacks and the thousands of American troops left dead and innocent Iraqi and other civilians in the wake of the attacks. They should not be pointing their blood stained fingers at Mr. Obama and accusing him of consorting. They should not take such accusations and slander so lightly when it is they who are largely responsible for failing to live up the appropriate standards of justice for terrorists and terrorism. In biblical times, such accusations would have brought about harsh punishment for those guilty. We tremble with rage at the whole, sorry spectacle these folks have led us into.
